SIL3 BMS systems supervise all safety trips of boilers and burner logics (pre-purge, light-off, shutdown, etc.) as per EN normative. BCS systems manage boilers process control and burners combustion control. The two boilers are operated with duty/stand-by philosophy having status data exchange between the two control systems. Each boiler is put in operation completely in automatic by control system after the operator has given the package start command. Boilers are equipped with instrumentation suitable for operation without human supervision up to 72 hours. Control systems manage all checks and safeties needed to allow boiler operation without supervision and grant the period of exoneration cannot exceed 72 hours.
BMS and BCS of both boilers are connected over redundant Ethernet LAN (control network). Each boiler is equipped with redundant HMI station (one local and one remote) connected over the control network. Communication with plant DCS is implemented with OPC DA and OPC AE protocols over redundant fiber optic networks.
